Stories from Braden Grant Winners

Each year, the Stanford Storytelling Project awards Braden Grants to a small number of students to support the research, writing, and production of audio documentaries. The aim of the program is to help students learn how to tell powerful, research-driven stories based on testimony they gather through interviews, research, or oral history archives. Grantees receive up to $2,500, as well as teaching, training, and mentorship during the period of the grant (March-December). These are the stories that came out of that process from the 2024 cohort.
2024 Braden Grant Stories
The Braden Storytelling Grant began in 2012, with each cohort typically including 6-12 grantees. All of the Braden Grant stories have been aired on KZSU and published on our Soundings podcast feed. Many of them have been included in our State of the Human episodes. We’re currently in the process of creating a designated podcast feed to feature our Braden stories. All archived Braden pieces will be posted individually with transcripts by the summer in 2025. In the meantime, you can hear stories from our recent grantees by clicking the images below and scroll down to find our 2012-2022 stories.
